Angola / Portugal: The other side of colonization.

Bring to Africa his genius and his civilization.

"If we want to civilize the natives, we must instill a basic moral precept the idea that they have no right to live without working." said Machado Viera  Minister of Salazar in 1943.
Portuguese colonization was terrible because most of the Portuguese were illiterate, uneducated and widespread fear of the "native" leads them to set up a system of assimilation to the utmost, to mount the Metis against blacks, a race for the money race, closer one gets the white world, it was better "accepted".
These ambiguous relationship between Métis and other blacks continue to this day, albeit more subtly.
In 1951 the Portuguese colony of Angola became an "overseas province" of Portugal. Angolans could become "Portuguese citizens" under certain conditions, which were to read and to speak Portuguese correctly, to have any criminal record, to produce two witnesses of good character and a medical certificate.
The Governor General of Angola was appointed by the Council of Ministers of Portugal, it had the executive and legislative powers, but it was assisted by a Governing Council and a Legislative Council.

The descendants of Portuguese settlers: back to the golden age or in purgatory?

Since 2008, no fewer than 100,000 Portuguese had settled in Angola, one of former colony portuguese of Southern Africa (with Mozambique).
In 2010, more than 25,000 visa applications were filed by young Portuguese job seekers at the Embassy of Angola in Lisbon. If the migratory flow continued, the Portuguese community in Angola could regain its pre-independence: 500,000 people. Unheard of in the annals of post-colonial!
The new "Civilizados" of Huambo, Benguela, Benguela, Bié and Andula will they speak Portuguese Angola or will they learn Kimbundu, Kikongo or  Quioco?
How to accept without complaint the power of the descendants of "assimilados" and the "natives"?
Will they adopt the "Linguagem dos musseques (musseques the language of the slums of Angola)'?
The Brazilian, Lusophone, other traditional partners, are also attracted by the phenomenal growth of Luanda.
"There is a Wild West side, is exhilarating. While Portugal is the country where it really should not be now." Said João, a marketing consultant landed in southern Angola in 2007.

The consequences of this rush to the new Eldorado.

Since 2002, the influx of migrants has transformed the city of Luanda,  the most expensive of the World. The rush and lack of housing has dramatically raised rents.
Since 2009, the Angolan capital is the most expensive city, ahead of Oslo, Tokyo, N'djamena, Moscow, New York, Copenhagen, Geneva and Osaka. In the center of the capital, the gleaming towers, overlooking the devastated neighborhoods, where some buildings still stand out by its many impacts of rockets and bullets, scars of a civil war that lasted 27 years.
Everything is to be built in Angola and its need for engineers, technicians and other experts are immense. Despite the presence of its 800 companies, Portugal is largely defeated by China's largest trading partner of Angola which showed a growth of 21% in 2008 against 1.8% in Portugal.
To cope with this busy man, Angola is building a new administrative capital in Kilamba Kiaxi and Zango in the province of Luanda for 2012, whose plans were developed by Oscar Niemeyer, aged 104 years (the architect designer Brasilia) and confided to engineer Jorge Faria Hamilton. Alone, the city of Kilamba Kiaxi will accommodate 120,000 residents in 2012.

"The Princess Isabel" and the conquest of Portugal in Angola.

She is a beautiful 39-year-Métis, eldest daughter of José Eduardo Dos Santos, President of Angola since 1979. Born's first marriage "Zedu" with a Russian. Married to the businessman, Sindika Dokolo (39 years) of Danish origin and Congolese, she weighs 34 million Euros and is associated with billionaire Portuguese, Américo Amorim Ferreira, the 212th World fortune  according to Forbes in 2010.
In late 2008, she bought for 164 million euros, a slice of 9.7% of shares held by the Portuguese Commercial Bank (BCP) in its rival BPI, the fourth largest private bank in Portugal.
In 2010,  the Angolan society Kento Holding, acquired the equivalent of 164 million euros, about 10% stake in Zon Multimedia, a large group operating in the media industry.
Taking advantage of the economic crisis in Portugal and thanks to petrodollars, the Angolan is investing in Portugal in all  relates companies of Portugal: Great hotels, luxury industry and especially banks and oil. With the financial strength of Sonangol, the national exploitation of gas and oil, Angola has an international economic machine that allows it to be a shareholder of the oil company Galp Energia and even the airline TAP Air Portugal.
It has interests in subsidiaries Angolan Portuguese banks: 49.99% of Banco Millennium Angola SA, a subsidiary of the Commercial Bank of Portugal and 49% of the Banco do Fomento de Angola (BFA) with a capital of 6.4 billion dollars.
In this "Angolanisation" runaway foreign interests, the Portuguese Investment Bank (BPI) failed in 2008, its share of 49.9% in its subsidiary Unitel in Angola, Angolan operator mobile, owned 25% by Isabel dos Santos.

Revenge of the Palancas: Portugal, Angola's colony!

The Palancas is a rare antelope that lives only in Kuando Kubango. This is the animal symbol of Angola. Would she drive to take revenge?
In 1975, the Portuguese had deserted massivly after the Angola caused a terrible war of independence that has devastated Angola for 27 years. They returned to Portugal and took refuge in South Africa, from which they come back (or their descendants)  without making waves.
Today there are over 20,000 reside in Angola.
While Brazil influence is felt in Luanda as in Lisbon, not only in music and soap operas (telenovelas), but also in the Internet, as most sites are hosted in Brazil, to circumvent deficits connections in Angola.
Portugal is gradually becoming a colony of Angola  all due to unhappy Lisbon's readers  with the economic daily "Jornal de Negocios" which jokes about the "Palancas offensive."
A businessman in Lisbon, José Calp, said: "Angola is the hope of salvation of the Portuguese economy"
"It reminds me of the days of great discoveries, when our ancestors went to Africa to escape, too, the economic crisis,"
said Mario Bandeira, of the Higher Institute of Labour Studies and Business.

Mauritius: first drug use in Africa.

Mauritius is accustomed to economic performance has been shocked to be "winning" in an area low status: the use of drugs.
According to the 2009 report of the UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), the Mauritians are in proportion to their numbers, Africans the most addicted to opiates, substances derived from opium.
With a prevalence rate of 1.95 per thousand consumers, the country lies second in the world behind Iran.
Drugs "is a real problem," admits a part of the National Agency for the treatment and rehabilitation of drug users.
And it is mostly young people from poor backgrounds who are affected: "This is on the rise due to poverty, which itself is growing in the country. In my area, for example, number of children not attending school, while it is compulsory until age 16. All day, they wander the streets, sniffing glue and taking plenty of powerful cough, "
said William Jamaluddin, a city councilor Riche-Terre, town north of Port Louis, capital of Mauritius.

The Mauritian government to the rescue of his youth.

Thanks to the mobilization of social activists and various NGOs, the government of Mauritius has just opened a large rehabilitation center, home to nearly 600 children and adolescents. Among them, and Asad Ashraf, twin brothers who agreed to testify:
"We started smoking joints at the age of 11 years, then we have taken strong cough. Four years later, we started to bite us Subutex [substance normally used in the treatment of opiate substitution, ed] in the veins. "
In 2004 there were almost 20,000 drug users (1.2 million inhabitants) and the phenomenon has grown.
Consumption of heroin, Subutex and Cannabis is increasingly important, especially among youth and women, and promotes the spread of HIV / AIDS
But the classification of the UNODC is experienced as an injustice in the country. "The methodology, which is to quadruple the number of consumers arrested for their actual number is questionable,"
protested the Mauritian authorities.
On the other hand, the classification is truncated, that "less than half the countries have responded to questionnaires."
After turning a blind eye for years, the authorities step up efforts to assist drug addicts.
A law was passed to fight against the phenomenon and positive results are already registered, reported IPS. The Mauritian Prime Minister Navin Ramgoolam, has presented satisfactory figures in Parliament earlier this year:
"The number of people linked to drug trafficking arrested in Mauritius rose from 1,500 in 2000 to 1,800 in 2010, and the same year, about 3 kg of heroin, 55 kg of cannabis and 20,301 Subutex tablets were seized by the police. "
Mauritius, independent since 12 March 1968 is populated with 1,268,835 inhabitants (2008) and covers an area of 1866 km2.

Andrée Blouin: "The Word of Congo" or " Black Pasionaria."

Illegitimate grand-sons of Asterix and Vercingetorix

To hide their sexual libertine (or the exercise of droit de seigneur), which could impair their prestige, the French and Belgian settlers had built orphanages and schools to educate their offspring as "illegitimate" out of the disapproving eyes of their compatriots coming freshly from Europe.

Thus were built an orphanage in Brazzaville especially Metis Franco-African (and similar) and wards of French Equatorial Africa, in Butembo for "mulatto" and Belgian-Congolese in Rwanda for Save " mulattoes "Ruanda-Urundi and Kivu.
These were taught into practice especially technicians "civilized" while reminding them of their origins "Negroes."
In Congo - Kinshasa where there were 12,000 more or less "Half-Blood" on the eve of independence, they normally enjoy a status of evolution, but their parents were away from blacks at risk losing that status brings it closer to "white".

As for the girls Metis, they were trained to become housewives or nuns in modern nuns strong character who handled the "whip" as well as the "Capita" on construction sites, in mines or on plantations.

A statute which created huge complex of "ambivalence" in the "Mindele-Ndombe" or "Mindele-Madeso."

With independence and the sudden departure of their "parents" they were literally lost. Or, they developed a deep hatred towards the "Whites" who had abandoned and felt more "Negroes" that blacks themselves, a protective condescension towards their black parents.

To Save, in Rwanda, African mothers saw their children at official ceremonies or through the fence of the convent for the most daring. From 1958 to 1961, 400 young Métis were transferred from Save in Belgium and placed in adoptive families in Brussels, Flanders and Wallonia.

The missionaries in charge of these "Orphanages" had developed "international marriage agencies of mulatto"
and rejoiced when a "White authentic" fell in love with a mestizo because it meant they had succeeded his education.

A struggle that gave rise to vocations and passions.

"This struggle was in tears, fire and blood, we are proud of the depths of ourselves, because it was a noble and just struggle, a struggle necessary to end the humiliating slavery which we was imposed by force. What was our lot in eighty years of colonial rule, our wounds are too fresh and too painful still for us to drive them from our memory. We had work harassing, demanded in return for wages that did not permit us to eat our fill. Neither of us dress or house ourselves decently, or to raise our children as their loved ones. We have known ironies, insults, blows that we had to suffer day and night because we were Negroes. Who will forget that a Black was said "Tu", certainly not as a friend, but because "Vous" Hon was reserved for whites only? ".

These prophetic words of Patrice Lumumba's speech tore the veil forever opaque covering colonial Africa. As a sword, they would have struck the heart of any young Métis formed in the orphanage for "Young Métis" in Brazzaville or the mission of Save in Rwanda.

Andrée Blouin, born Gerbillat, Métis of Ubangi-Shari

Daughter of the French adventurer Pierre Gerbillat and Josephine Wouassimba, a woman of the tribe Banziri, born 1st December 1919 in the village of Bessou in Ubangi-Shari (now Central Africa Republic) is separated from her mother at the age of three years and placed as other "Métis" adverse to the orphanage Augouard Brazzaville, the capital of French Equatorial Africa (AOF). The harsh conditions of his training in the orphanage make him aware of his "African status".

It is still pubescent when she has been married to the French Groetz. Too beautiful, too smart, too independent, so rebellious! The kind of woman who does not fit a macho colon. The divorce was quickly delivered!

She married the engineer André Blouin, Polytechnic which led him to Guinea for the first time in 1953. She becomes friends with another mestizo, the Guinean Marie-Andrée Kourouma, daughter of Dr. Paul-Marie Duplantier and Kaïssa Kourouma. Former secretary of the Association of Women, she married the fiery trade unionist Muslim Ahmed Sekou Toure, after braving all banned June 18, 1953.

To have more independence, she opened a shop of African objects at Conakry. Ahmed Sekou Toure, admire his intelligence and eloquence that they share. She feels for him an unwavering admiration. Did she provided him advice and drafted some of his passionate speeches?

The Madame Du Barry Congo of Dag Hammarskjöld

In November 1959, she met Pierre Mulele passing in Conakry who invited him to Leopoldville despite opposition from his fellow Raphael Kinki of African Socialist Party (PSA) and Antoine Kingotolo of the Bakongo Alliance (ABAKO). She exerts "Communist" influence  on Antoine Gizenga and Pierre Mulele, who contact the Belgian colonial administration for his removal.

On May 31, 1960, the polls confirm access to the power of Patrice Lumumba. Aware of the price of independence, Sekou Toure, sees the fragility of the Congolese nationalist. He decided to send two special advisors: Dr. Felix Moumie Roland, president of the Union of the Populations of Cameroon (UPC) chased by the French secret service he named head of the mission in Leopoldville and his Guinean secret weapon "Ms. Andrée Blouin. "

She participates in the election of Antoine Gizenga and traveled with him to Kwilu alongside Peter Gabriel and Mulele Yumbu of Socialist African Party (PSA).

She writes speeches for him including speech of July 30, 1960 at a reception given in honor of UN Secretary-General, Dag Hammarskjold during his visit to Kinshasa.

The Swedish diplomat who does not appreciate, called her with  the nickname of "Madame Du Barry of Congo", the favorite of King Louis XV, guillotined during the French Revolution.

"The Word of Congo" or irritates galvanizes his listeners.

Accomplished speaker, very good at the local languages and with a common energy out of it galvanized the crowd. Always elegant, she is hated and jealousy as Africans than Europeans. In June 1960, she became a columnist on the radio Congolese where it is called "The Word of Congo."
Indeed, with his warm voice and vibrant, she communicates her faith to the masses.

Was she alongside Patrice Lumumba and Thomas Kanza when they writed the correcting speech "Blasphemous" of June 30, 1930?

Lumumba had not he asked his adviser Belgian Pierre Duvivier him to write an essay "on how Guinean"?

In July 1960 she was appointed Chief of Protocol of Prime Minister Patrice Emery Lumumba, a position difficult to accept because as she said, her office was a veritable "Tower of Babel" where are scrambling Europeans, Africans, adventurous, passionate, single skinned alive and excited.

When Patrice Lumumba was brutally murdered in Katanga January 17, 1961, the dream of Andrée Blouin was definitely broken.

October 14, 1960, she was expelled from the Congo (along with Dr. Felix Moumie) on personal orders of President Joseph Kasavubu.          She took refuge in Switzerland where she escapes two attempted murders. In Paris, where she moved, she continues to denounce the neo-colonialist policy plaguing Africa.

April 4, 1965, the headlines with a legal complaint against the news agency "Opera Mundi" by Hungarian Peter Winkler. The agency had just published his adventures in the Congo on the basis of his talks with two Belgian journalists without prior agreement!

In 1981, Jean MacKellar, published by Praeger in New York in English: "My Country, Africa: Autobiography of the Black Pasionaria"
based on conversations she had with him in Paris and Conakry in 1970 and 1980.

Conakry remain her base until the death of his mentor Sekou Toure in March 1984. Having rejected the words and political actions that are described (judging exceeded) in the book by Jean MacKellar, presented as her autobiography, she died in Paris in complete anonymity in April 1986.

After her death, the "black pasionaria" disappears from public life and become a legend and be reborn in the guise of Fragonard Simone, aka Kolelas, the main character of the Congolese Henri Lopes “The Lys and flamboyant.”

"I never knew who I was, and I always knew that I was not (...) In these circumstances it is even harder not to get caught by the masses and seek its way into a world where everything is unstable equilibrium, doubts, loyalties random quicksand where identity is lost in oceans of uncertainty where consciousness is drowning. "

Bosnia: A pigeon driver of heroin.

In August 2009, at the prison in Zenica in Bosnia, 50 km from Sarajevo, a pigeon lands on the bars of a window every night. Its owner runs a small package attached to his leg and attaches a small acknowledgment before sending the pigeon to its final destination.

Nothing unusual until the prison guards found that four inmates behave like drug addicts and decide to send them to the laboratory for a medical examination. No doubt they are under the influence of heroin, said the official Josip Pojavnik.

Following the investigation, it appears that the pigeon was on the route between Tuzla and Zenica located about 70 km in central Bosnia to deliver drugs.
"An investigation is underway to know the identity of those who provide drugs and instructed the pigeon. We do not know what to do with the pigeon, but for now, he will remain behind bars," said the director of prison.
This incident led to the closure of a pigeon inside the prison, set up as part of the rehabilitation program for prisoners, complained that the bird did not come either.
Similar cases of pigeons deliverymen were held in Brazil. The birds were used to supply drugs, medicines and even mobile phones!

The pigeons are a breed of birds bred specifically for their ability to transport small cargo and mail.
These birds were used already in the Middle Ages, especially during the wars and even now in many prisons.

Mo'ammar Gaddafi was secretly in love with Condoleezza Rice!

While his family called her "Condi," Gaddafi Mo'ammar familiarly called her "Leezza".
"I support my beloved African woman. (...) I admire and am proud of how she relaxes and gives orders to the Arab leaders. Leezza, Leezza, Leezza (...) I like her very much. I admire and am proud of her, because she is a black woman of African origin "stated Colonel Gaddafi in 2007 in an interview with the pan-Arab channel Al-Jazeera.
In June 2005, she was severely criticized President Hosni Mubarak of requiring free, fair transparent elections. Which probably resulted Mo'ammar Gaddafi on reducing his program of acquiring and developing weapons of mass destruction and the payment of financial compensation for the bombing of Pan Am over Lockerbie in Scotland in 1988.
In 2008, as part of the normalization of relations between Washington and Tripoli, the former guide of the Libyan Arab Jamahiriya Socialist People finally had the opportunity to meet the U.S. Secretary of State George W. Bush in Tripoli.
Visibly overwhelmed by the visit, the Libyan president had received the responsible of American diplomacy from 2005 to 2009 in the residence that was bombed by President Ronald Reagan in 1986 in retaliation for the disco bombing in West Berlin frequented by U.S. soldiers April 5, 1986, attributed to Libya.
On this occasion Mo'ammar Gaddafi, visibly happy, wearing a large scarf in the colors of Africa, had addressed to her, calling tenderly "Leezza," while her close aides employed instead of "Condi" for the challenge.
During this official visit, Gaddafi had covered Condoleezza Rice symbolic gifts: a diamond ring, a lute, a gold medallion enclosing her picture and an autographed copy of his « Green Book ».
Value of gifts that usually end up outlined in the presidential library or in a common warehouse: 212,000 USD (147,000 Euros). U.S. authorities are not entitled to keep official gifts offered by foreign leaders.
U.S. Secretary had received in November 2005, a necklace valued at petal motifs 170,000 dollars of its Saudi counterpart, Prince Saud al-Faisal.
She had also received in 2007 from other Arab leaders lavish gifts including a dress full of emeralds and diamonds - necklace, bracelet, earrings and ring - valued at some 147 000 dollars, King Abdullah II of Jordan and a similar dress, this time adorned with rubies and diamonds, valued at 165,000 dollars of King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud of Saudi Arabia.
In August 2011, storming the headquarters of Qaddafi, the rebels made a surprising discovery in one of the buildings: an album full of pictures of his "dear" Condoleezza Rice.
The photo album found Wednesday in the stronghold of Bab al-Azizia in Tripoli contained several photographs of Condoleezza Rice.          Requested by the Associated Press, the former secretary of state, once nicknamed "Warrior Princess" did not return calls.
When contacted by The Associated Press, former Secretary of State did not return calls.
Asked about it, the spokesman for the State Department in Washington, Victoria Nuland did not hide his disgust: "I do not need to see the photos. They describe well the behavior of most of the time Gaddafi. It's not a surprise to me. But it's weird and deeply scary, if it is as you described it, "she said.

Alejandro Aguinaga, the health minister at the time, admits that "mistakes" were made, but refuses to acknowledge that this was a deliberate policy. Behind that forced sterilization was hiding a shameful political objective: "Destroy the areas supporting the people's war led by the Communist Party of Peru."
In fact this policy was an outrageous response to the International Monetary Fund (IMF), who considered it essential to reduce the birth rate in Peru.

M’oammar Gaddafi, his nurses and Amazons.

"Women, like men, are human beings. This is an undeniable truth ... Women are different from men physically, because they are female, as all females in the kingdom of plants and animals differ from males of their species. According to gynecologists, women, unlike men, have their periods every month. Because men do not get pregnant, they do not feel the same pain as women. They give the breast for almost two years ".

Brazil: The savior of humanity is ... naked!

In April 1989, the great Indian chief of the tribe of Kayapagos of the Amazon, in Mato Grosso in the territory of Brazil, Raoni Metuktire, invited to Paris (with help from singer Gordon Matthew Thomas Sumner, aka Sting) Media made a splash.
Paris-Match devotes entire pages and great pictures in front of the new Louvre pyramid. Turning a hat in yellow feathers, face painted black, this man out of time was given for the first time, a Brazilian passport, made its first flight and appeared on French television.
His lower lip distended by a hard pipe and made him a masterpiece of an ethnological museum.
But his mission was even more impressive: "Saving the largest reserve of oxygen in the world, the Amazon forest."
The embarrassment of his hosts was as great or hotels or villas in Paris were up to the master of nature. There remained only the Rambouillet forest, whose leaf evergreens this winter without pity were next to the ancient trees of the Amazon home.
The joke did not stop there because the poor Raoni after being received by President Jacques Chirac at the Elysee Palace, had not the right black limousine heads of state, but an ambulance service with Emergency Medical Services (EMS) with the bikers ... to prevent it from being contaminated by polluted air of Paris or the opposite!
